German Weekly Gas Demand Fell 28.5% Below Average

German natural consumption stood 28.5% below the 2018-2021 average last week, weighed on by lower household demand amid mild weather, Bnetza data showed.

  • Demand declined by 6.8% week on week. Natural gas demand in calendar week six stood 34% below the 2018-21 average amid mild weather.
  • Industrial gas use in Germany last week edged lower to 1,542GWh/d, down from 1,579GWh/d the week prior and in line with levels seen last year.
  • Natural gas demand from households and small businesses declined to 1,272GWh last week, down from 1,439GWh/d the week before and below 2023 levels of 1,506GWh/d.
  • German natural gas inventories stood at 71.33% as of 20 February, down from 71.83% a week earlier, GIE data showed.
