German Weekly Gas Demand Fell 34% Below Average

German weekly natural gas consumption stood 34% below the 2018-2021 average last week, amid lower heating demand due to significantly milder than average weather, Bnetza data showed.

  • Weekly gas demand stood 22.6% below the average in the week prior.
  • Natural gas consumption from households and small businesses fell to 1,439GWh/d last week, compared to 1,563GWh the week prior.
  • Industrial gas use last week edged down only slightly to 1,579GWh/d, from 1,587GWh/d the week prior.
  • Temperatures in Germany last week stood on average 6.3°C above the 2018-21 average.
  • German natural gas inventories stood at 71.84% of capacity as of 13 February, down from 73.68% a week earlier, GIE data showed.
