POWER: Germany Plans First Nuclear Fusion Reactor
POWER
Germany is planning to construct the world’s first nuclear fusion reactor, media outlets reported, citing exploratory talks between the CDU and SPD.
- The CDU/CSU bloc and the SPD leaders agreed on common principles on migration, the economy, and industry as part of the coalition exploratory talks.
- Both parties intend lower energy prices, by building out 20GW of new gas-fired power capacity and by reducing electricity-related taxes, the ZfK reported.
- "We are in favour of two large fusion reactors that should be tested in Germany," CDU’s Friedrich Merz said in November.
