MNI BRIEF: China SME Index Highest Since June 2021
MNI (BEIJING) - China’s Small and Medium Enterprise Development Index reached 89.8 in February, up 0.8 points from January, reaching the highest level since June 2021, data from the China Small and Medium Enterprise Association showed on Wednesday.
SMEs accelerated operations after the Spring Festival with increasing confidence and expectations, the association said, noting the macroeconomic perception index rose 0.5 points from January.
China needs additional official support for its property market to consolidate a recent stabilisation in home sales, including faster moves to restructure real-estate developers to avoid large-scale defaults, a senior policy advisor told MNI.
