Germany Still Considers TenneT Minority Stake

The German government is still in talks with Dutch officials to acquire a minority stake in the German business of TenneT, Germany’s Deputy Energy Minister Philipp Nimmermann said on Tuesday.

  • This comes after Germany ended talks with TenneT for a potential takeover of the German business of the TSO due to budgetary challenges in late June.
  • “We have informed the Dutch government that we are interested in a strategic minority shareholding, which could be 25% plus one, but could also be organized differently via veto rights,” Nimmermann said.
  • The transaction could be made in a consortium or constellation with other parties, he added.
