GILT SUMMARY: Gilts are off to a flying start Friday, with the Dec8 future up 17
ticks at 122.25.
- The Gilt curve is slightly flatter, with 2-Yr yields down 0.1bps at 0.737% and
10-Yrs down 1.4bps at 1.441%.
- Comments by France European Affairs minister Loiseau on BBC Radio around
0815BST that the UK`s Brexit proposal is `not possible` and that France is
preparing for `no-deal` Brexit potentially boosting risk aversion.
- Short-Sterling futures are strengthening, up 1-2 ticks across the strip, with
far-dated Greens and Blues outperforming.
- The UK Debt Management Office (DMO) announced the Gilt issuance programme for
Oct-Dec 2018, including eight auctions (listed in a bullet at 0805BST) and one
long conventional gilt syndication (1.625% 2071) in first half of Oct. Few
surprises in the announcement overall.
- Quiet end to week data-wise, with focus chiefly on Brexit: EU Chief Brexit
Negotiator Michel Barnier and UK Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab scheduled to meet
in Brussels today.
