Global Gas Demand Broadly Flat 2023: IEA

NATURAL GAS

Global gas demand is expected to remain broadly flat in 2023 according to the IEA, with tight supply and slower economic expansion limiting gas demand growth potential.

  • Most of the demand growth is set to be driven by the Asia Pacific region and the Middle East, however most of this growth will be almost entirely offset by the demand drops in North America and Europe.
  • In Europe, gas demand is expected to drop by 5%, primarily due to lower gas burn in the power sector and continued demand decline in space heating.
