Global Jet Fuel Demand Rises Marginally on Week: BNEF

Global passenger jet fuel demand is set to rise for the first time in four weeks, supported by a rising appetite from Asia, according to BNEF.

  • Global implied passenger jet fuel demand is set to rise by 0.4% on the week to 6m b/d in the week to Feb. 5.
  • Asia’s demand is forecast to increase by 2.3% on the week. The only other region set for a week-on-week rise is the MENA region.
  • Domestic flights in China alone are set to grow by 10% over the next four weeks, based on current schedules. However, these are subject to last minute change.
  • China’s aviation regulator said that the Chinese New Year holiday from Feb. 10-17 will boost the number of trips to 10% above pre-pandemic 2019 levels.
