Global Jet Fuel Demand Set to Be Flat on the Week: BNEF

Global jet fuel demand is set to remain largely flat on the week at 6.1m b/d in the week to Feb. 19, according to BNEF.

  • Western Europe, the Middle East, North America, and North Africa are expected to see weekly gains in implied jet fuel demand.
  • Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latam are set for a week-on-week fall.
  • In China, the number of domestic flights is set to drop by 1% over the next month, according to current schedules. However, these are subject to last minute changes.
  • Current schedules also indicate that international demand from Chinese airlines is set to plateau in Feb, BNEF said.
  • Jet fuel prices globally have risen over the past week, boosted by the ongoing Middle East tensions which have supported the oil complex.
  • Rotterdam barge prices rose 8.1% on the week to $939/mt Feb. 09.
