After the tragedy, an extrajudicial agreement was reached between the governments of Minas and Espírito Santo and Vale, Samarco and BHP, for investments of R$33.38 billion in reparation and compensation actions, including compensation and financial aid."
  • "But recently there was an attempt to renegotiate, with mediation from the federal government. At the end of last year, negotiations were suspended because governments asked for payments of R$126 billion, and companies offered R$42 billion."
