ISRAEL: GLZ-Full Cabinet To Meet @ 1530 Local To Approve Gaza Ceasefire Deal

Israeli Army Radio (GLZ) reporting that the full cabinet will meet at 1530 local time (0830ET, 1330GMT, 1430CET) to approve the Gaza ceasefire-for-hostages deal. Earlier today, Israeli outlets had reported that a full cabinet meeting to sign off on the agreement would not take place until Saturday evening in order to avoid Shabbat (sunset Friday-sunset Saturday). However, it appears that this timeline has been moved up, with N12 reporting that the Cabinet meeting is set to run into Friday evening. 

  • Times of Israel reports that the implementation of the deal will come into force from 1215 local time (0515ET, 1015GMT, 1115CET) on Sunday 19 Jan.
  • As we noted earlier (see 'ISRAEL: Security Cabinet Starts Meeting On Gaza Ceasefire Deal', 0951GMT) the full Cabinet is set to approve the deal even with the resignation/opposition of ultranationalist parties in coalition.
