GOLD: Gold trades up $2.7 in the Asia-Pac session, with the metal last at
$1248.7 as the 200-dma comes into focus at $1253.4. Lower short-end US yields
are supporting prices as falling US stocks continue to reduce the prospects of a
rate hike at tomorrow's Fed meeting. The continued decline in US breakevens is
keeping real yields elevated but the metal is moving more closely in line with
nominal rather than real yields at present.
