Governing Council Members Continue To Opine On The EUR

ECB

ECB rhetoric surrounding the EUR was once again evident over the weekend, although it could hardly be deemed to be groundbreaking. Governing Council member Visco trotted out the very matter of fact notion that "the euro's recent strengthening is worrying us because it generates further downward pressures on prices at a time when inflation is already low." He also denied ECB policymakers were divided on the matter and said his views echoed those of the Executive Board, per RTRS. Elsewhere, Governing Council member de Cos noted that inflation is foreseen to be well below the ECB's target and recent exchange-rate moves mean there is "no room for complacency," per BBG.
