Government Records Fourth Consecutive Primary Budget Surplus In April

  • Data released last night by the Economy Ministry showed that the primary budget surplus was ARS 264.95bn in April, the fourth consecutive surplus. This is the first time that this has been achieved since 2008. With interest on debt amounting to ARS 248bn, the took the overall fiscal surplus to ARS 17bn. For the first four months of the year, the budget surplus reached 0.2% of GDP, with the primary surplus tracking around 0.7% of GDP.
  • On the political front, President Milei is in Spain today, while Foreign Minister Diana Mondino continues her visit to Washington DC where she is due to hold a meeting with representatives of the US Chamber of Commerce at 1530BST(1030ET), before meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at 2015BST(1515ET).
