Green Party's Shaw Keeps Cabinet Post Despite Losing Party Co-Leadership

NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed that James Shaw will remain Climate Change Minister, while Shaw said he is not planning to step down as an MP, despite being ousted as Green Party co-leader in the party's annual meeting held over the weekend.

  • Shaw failed to get the 75% of votes of the delegates to the Green Party's annual meeting required to be reconfirmed as the co-leader. Marama Davidson was reconfirmed by the delegates, while Shaw pledged to keep fighting and contest the Green Party's co-leadership again.
