HEH's Onshore LNG Facility Near Hamburg on Schedule After FID Decision

Germany’s first permanent onshore LNG terminal outside Hamburg could begin construction within a few weeks after taking a final investment decision according to Bloomberg.

  • The project is on schedule with the first cargo from the facility targeted for 2027, Hanseatic Energy Hub CEO Jan Themlitz said.
  • As much as 90% of the capacity has been reserved by clients including EnBW AG and SEFE. The remainder will be offered on the spot market.
  • Spain’s Enagas SA will operate the facility and has increased its stake in the venture from 10% to 15%.
  • Longterm off-take agreements for the facility also contain the option to switch future volumes from LNG to ammonia.
  • Two other onshore facilities are planned to start around a similar time at Brunsbuettel and Wilhelmshaven.
