Holding Cheaper To Start, Futures Off Overnight Lows

AUSSIE BONDS

Aussie bond futures sit in line to a touch above their late overnight session levels, with the previously detailed unrest seen across some of the major Chinese cities likely providing some support to start the week.

  • That leaves YM -2.0 & XM -3.0, with the wider cash ACGB space seeing 2-4bp of cheapening, providing a light bear steepening backdrop.
  • Bills sit 1-5bp cheaper through the reds, with some light bear steepening apparent, in sympathy with bonds.
  • Local headline flow has been relatively limited over the weekend.
  • Looking ahead, Monday’s local docket consists of the latest parliamentary address from RBA Governor Lowe (which will start at 10:00 AEDT), with retail sales and A$300mn of ACGB Mar-47 supply also slated.
