HUF Retraces Lower As NBH Keeps 1W Depo Rate Unchanged

HUNGARY
  • Yesterday, the NBH decided to leave its 1w depo rate unchanged at 4% (as exp.) in its weekly meeting.
  • It seems that traders have been disappointed by the NBH's decision to mark a pause in its tightening cycle (1W depo rate unchanged since the start of the year); the forint has been consolidating against major crosses in the past week.
  • EURHUF has been retracing higher in the past few days after receiving support at the 355 level.
  • The pair tested its 200DMA earlier (357.60); a break above that level would open the door for a move up to 361.30 (100DMA).
  • On the downside, support to watch below 355 stands at 350.90.
