HUNGARY: Hungary to Remain on Flood Alert Until Next Thursday
HUNGARY
- Prime Minister Viktor Orban commented on the flood situation at a press conference this morning. The PM said heightened preparedness in flood defence will have to stay in place for six more days, until next Thursday.
- European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen promised yesterday to mobilise up to EUR 10bn in funding to help central European leaders grappling with the flooding, Bloomberg reported.
- Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto and Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko will speak at 10:15BST/11:15CET after a meeting of the committee on economic cooperation ahead of the Russian-Hungarian business forum in Budapest.
- There are no local data releases scheduled for today, with focus shifting to the NBH decision on September 24. There, the central bank is expected to resume easing with a 25bp cut to the base rate.
