HUNGARY: Retail Sales Rise 3.2% Y/Y in April, Below Estimates

  • Retail sales in Hungary were up by an annual 3.2% in April when adjusted for calendar-year effects (Est: +4.2%; Prior: r4.1%). Adjusted food sales rose by 3.6%, non-food sales increased by 4.3% and vehicle fuel sales were up by 2.0%. Month on month, retail sales edged down by 0.9%.
  • Foreign Minister Szijjarto is once again the only European Union government official attending the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia, which began yesterday.
  • There are no other economic releases scheduled for today, with industrial production data the last release of note left on the local slate this week (Est: +0.7% Y/Y; Prior: -2.8%). Those figures will be released tomorrow morning.
