ICE Gasoil Open Interest Lowest Since Jan 2015

ICE Gasoil open interest has fallen to the lowest since Jan 2015 according to the latest data.

  • Aggregate open interest is down to just 0.464m compared to a peak of 1.077m in June last year. After falling on the high market volatility and uncertainty earlier this year the level had stabilised but has seen a fresh decline this month.
  • Uncertainty over Russian oil supplies later this year and into next and refineries struggling to meet demand and restock supplies are maintaining high market volatility currently around 56%.
  • Brent open interest is also drifting back after seeing a recovery in September while WTI open interest is still 33% below a 2021 peak.
