- Ifo CURRENT SITUATION (CS): Bbg Cons: 99.1; Prev (Dec): 98.8 

- Ifo EXPECTATIONS: Bbg Cons: 94.8; Prev (Dec): 93.8 

- The BC is projected to inch higher to 97.0 in Jan, which would be a 3rd

straight rise 

- However, the index remains muted and recent gains were only marginal

- CS has trended lower since the end of 2018, but analysts forecast a slight

uptick in Jan to 99.1 

- Expectations posted a 3rd successive gain in Dec, hitting a 6-month high of

93.8 and project another increase to 94.8 in Jan 

- Fwd-looking indicators suggest an upside risk with the ZEW and the Sentix

reporting significant gains in both current conditions and expectations. 

- Germany's flash composite PMI rose to a 5-month high in Jan, with a return to

growth of new orders.
