Improving US-Asia Arb Boost Med LNG Prices: Platts

LNG

Improving arbitrage economics to move cargoes to the Far East have pushed up prices in the Mediterranean, according to Platts.

  • As a result, some West Med traders are looking to move cargoes to Asia, which has supported Spanish PVB levels, Platts said.
  • The robust storage levels in Spain means that a lot of players keep their LNG in TVB tanks to easily redirect them to Asia if prices get more competitive, Platts added. LNG stored in Spanish tanks were currently 60% full.
  • Traders told Platts that Italy is currently the strongest market for Europe due to maintenance at the OLT terminal.
