India's January Crude Imports Rose to Highest Since April

India’s crude oil imports in January increased by 5.7% year on year to the highest since April 2022 at 21.4m tons, according to provisional data from the oil ministry’s Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell.

  • Diesel exports rose by 1.6% year on year to 2.02m tons but down from 2.84m tons in Dec.
  • Gasoline exports fell by 16.4% on the year to 0.97m tons and compared to 1.19m tons in Dec.
  • Oil demand in India in January was previously reported to be up +8.3% y/y to 20.04m tons.
