India's Top Diplomat Says China Has No Explanation For Some Actions

Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar speaks at Bloomberg New Economy Forum. India's chief diplomat notes that the talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi have been clear, adding that Beijing has no credible explanation for some of its actions.

  • Envoys of the two nations held the 23rd meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) on Thursday. They agreed to hold another round of Senior Commanders meeting "at an early" date to try and diffuse simmering tensions around the border.
  • The meeting was held days after Chinese state media broadcast a footage of PLA long-range bomber planes being deployed to the border with India. The SCMP reported that Beijing has recently moved the bombers to a base in Xinjiang, closer to the region contested by China and India.
