Inflation And Rate Hikes Being Felt

AUSTRALIA

The Herald’s Resolve Political Monitor is reporting that the higher cost of living and rates are being felt by Australian households and that around half expect the economy to get worse before it gets better.

  • 67% of voters are feeling the impact of recent developments on their finances with 41% saying that they would struggle to pay for a major expense. 80% think that the gap between rich and poor has widened.
  • 40% continue to support the incumbent Labor Party compared with the Coalition on 31%. PM Albanese remains the preferred PM with 55% support compared with opposition leader Dutton’s 23%. However, Albanese’s net performance rating dropped to 25pp from 35pp in the last month but Dutton’s remained at -16pp.
