Inflation Data the Key Release This Week

  • Turkish inflation data is the key domestic data release on the docket this week, with CPI expected to cool further in March on the back of base effects. The yearly figure is seen cooling to 44.25% y/y from 50.51% while core CPI is estimated to fall slightly to 45.40% y/y.
  • The government will reconsider the minimum wage level in July, Labor and Social Security Minister Vedat Bilgin said as per Hurriyet. He noted that inflation has started to decline but prices continue to increase. “We will re-evaluate this [minimum wage] in July and set the minimum wage at a level which will protect workers. We are carrying out a study on purchasing power,” Bilgin said in an interview with private broadcaster A Haber.
