US DATA: Initial unemployment claims above expectations in the Dec 1 
wk, -4k to 231k vs 225k expected. Claims were rev up to 235k from 234k 
in Nov 24 wk.
- NSA claims +97,194 to 315,852 in the current wk, below the 325,998 
level a year ago. The drop was smaller than the 102,401 decline seasonal 
factors expected. 
- The 4-wk moving avg +4,250 to 228,000 in the Dec 1 wk. The avg would 
rise further next week if there is no revision to the headline figure 
as the 221k level in Nov 10 week rolls out.
- Continuing claims -74k to 1.631m in the Nov 24 wk, while the 4-wk avg 
+250 to 1.667m. The insured rate of unemployment fell to 1.1%
- Claims were not estimated for any states.
