At the moment, the DJIA trades down 55.74 points (-0.13%) at 44507.85, S&P E-Minis up 4.75 points (0.08%) at 6156.75, Nasdaq up 14.6 points (0.1%) at 20071.74.
  • Utility and Communication Services sectors outperformed in the first half, electricity and multi-energy providers supporting the former: NextEra Energy Inc +5.26%, AES Corp +2.04%, Southern Co+1.42% and PG&E Corp +1.39%.
  • Meanwhile, leading gainers in the Communication Services sector Match Group +2.24%, Interpublic Group and Walt Disney Co both up 1.77% while Verizon Communications gained 1.45%.
  • Conversely, Energy and Information Technology sectors underperformed in the first half, oil and gas shares weighing on the Energy sector: Texas Pacific Land Corp-1.80%, Diamondback Energy -1.61% while Devon Energy Corp and EOG Resources Inc both declined -1.36%.
  • The tech sector lagged as semiconductor makers continued to draw profit taking sales after posting strong midweek gains: Texas Instruments -6.28%, Microchip Technology -5.10%, Analog Devices Inc-3.30%, NXP Semiconductor-2.53% while First Solar Inc declined 2.10%.
