Interest Rate To Reach Neutral In Coming Months: BCRP Chief Economist

  • Peru’s interest rate will move to reach a neutral position in the coming months, the central bank’s chief economist Adrian Armas, said at a press conference on Friday.
    • “The monetary policy stance is being normalized, there has been no mention of a restrictive position,” Armas said.
    • The central bank expects business confidence to recover and believes the third Covid-19 wave won’t significantly impact the country’s economy.
  • Foreign Affairs Minister Oscar Maurtua on Sunday affirmed that Peru provides legal and political safeguards, as well as social license, for responsible and inclusive foreign investment.
