IPCA-15 CPI Inflation Due At 1300BST

  • IPCA-15 inflation data for the first half of April will be published at 1300BST(0800ET), with analysts expecting prices to have risen by 0.29% m/m, following a 0.36% gain previously. On an annual basis, the rate of inflation is expected to ease to 3.85% y/y, from 4.14%, which would be the lowest since last July. These will be the last IPCA inflation data ahead of the May 8 Copom meeting. Meanwhile, BCB Governor Campos Neto will deliver a lecture at an event in Sao Paulo at 1300BST.

  • In other news, Petrobras shareholders elected a new board of directors with 11 members yesterday, six of which were appointed by the government. Amongst those, Petrobras CEO Prates was re-elected to the board. At the company’s AGM, shareholders also approved 50% of extraordinary dividends, as proposed by the government.
