IPSA Index Rises To Best Levels Since September 06

  • Weakness for metals and in particular copper may weigh on the Chilean Peso at the open, amid some further strengthening for broad dollar indices on Tuesday. Chile’s benchmark S&P IPSA equity index rose for a third straight session, led by Latam Airlines and Empresas Copec, and reached its highest since September. Analysts note that it was a day marked by several dividend payments.
  • Today from 6pm the Central Bank will publish the statement of its financial policy meeting in which it can modify the countercyclical capital requirements of local lenders. April PPI data is the sole economic data point this week before next Monday’s BCCh monetary policy meeting minutes.
