Irish Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney tweets: "Meeting with ⁦@MarosSefcovic⁩ , EU chair of EU/UK Joint Committee on #Brexit. #EU focus remains on concluding a Future Relationship deal but also full implementation of the NI/Ire Protocol and Withdrawal Agreement. Outstanding issues can be resolved through negotiation."

  • While the EU and member states remain opposed to the UK Internal Market bill currently going through the UK House of Commons, the comment that 'issues can be resolved through negotiation' at least points to some positivity.
  • Earlier today, Euractiv reported that the European Commission will use the base case of a WTO trading relationship with the UK from Jan 1 for their next set of economic forecasts.
