Israeli PM-US Has Accepted Our Requests On EU's Nuclear Deal Draft

Speaking at presser ahead of meeting of his Yesh Atid party, Israeli PM Yair Lapid on US response to EU draft on Iran nuclear deal:

  • "The Americans accepted a significant amount of what we requested they add to the draft [response], which is a welcome change. Our dialogue with them is good, and this is how we will continue".
  • Says that “the current deal is a bad deal”.
  • Israeli national security adviser Eyal Hulata has been in Washington, D.C., this week for “very intensive discussions” with US counterpart NSA Jake Sullivan.
  • Walla News reported an unnamed Israeli official stating the visit had made the US “hardened their position” towards Iran.
At present, Tehran is reviewing the US' response to the EU final draft on a proposed deal to bring the US back into the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and bring Iran back into compliance with the agreement. Remains unclear how close the various participants are to reaching a deal, with a significant amount of ebb and flow in optimism/pessimism as each side seeks to promote view that it is the 'winner' of the negotiations.
