EGB SUMMARY: It has been a quiet Monday afternoon for EGBs, with consolidation
in Bunds after an overnight jump higher was reversed in the morning session.
- Sep Bunds opened 54 ticks higher on follow-through from weekend trade
headlines, selling off before 0800BST as US Pres Trump signalled China had
called to resume negotiations (though Chinese officials denied).
- Sep Bund futures (RX) last down 19 ticks at 178.35 (L: 178.22 / H: 179.21),
with some bull steepening in the curve (2-Yr outperforming).
- Euribor futures fairly steady, +/- 0.5 ticks across the strip to Dec22.
- Apart from Trump`s trade pronouncements, Italy has been the most closely
watched story, though spreads haven`t moved much (10-Yr in 5.6bps range vs
Bunds, fairly little by recent standards, last 1.4bps wider at 200.6bps.
- PD saying `no vetoes` on contentious issue of who would be next Prime Minister
in PD/5-Star gov`t; seen indicative of coalition coming together soon.
- Ansa reported Pres. Mattarella to post schedule of Tuesday's government
formation talks - and wants an update on today's discussions by 1900CET.
- Issuance picks up Tuesday with Italy and Germany 2-Yr bond sales.
