Italian Gas Well Prepared for Winter: Ecological Transition Minister

Italy’s Ecological Transition Minister Roberto Cingolani places Italy in a better position than other EU nations to ride out this winter’s energy emergency after it has sealed gas deals in Africa, has reduced consumption and is increased filling of its gas storage.

  • He said Italy is on track to fill storage by 90% ahead of winter and is currently at 75%.
  • "A winter of prudence and sober consumption awaits us, but more sustainable than other countries," he said.
  • Italy will reduce its gas consumption by 5 billion cubic meters this year versus last Cingolani said.
