ITALY: Italy Wednesday announced buyback of short-end bonds and related BTP
syndicated tap to be held on Thursday.
- Italy buying back Dec-20 CCTEu, Jun-22 CCTEu, and Dec-22 CCTEu for up to
E2bln, as well as 4% Sep-20 BTP and 3.75% May-21 BTP for up to E1bln - total up
to E3bln.
- Buyback opens Thursday 0900GMT and ends 1100GMT.
- As reported earlier, Italy will also be reopening 2.3% Oct-21 BTP via
syndication (Citigroup, MPS Capital Services and SG CIB as Joint Bookrunners).
- The Tesoro`s consolidation of short-end bonds into a single issue is 'part of
its public management policy'. Appears to be for liquidity purposes.
