NATURAL GAS

Italy’s TSO SNAM plans to focus on strengthening the north-south gas transport capacity to make some capacity available for Italy’s neighbouring countries, CEO of SNAM, Stefano Venier said on Bloomberg TV.

  • When asked whether Italy has extra capacity to import gas from Algeria or elsewhere, Venier said: “we will work on that…for the time being we have used up extra capacity and offset the decline in Russian flows, using that capacity to import more Algerian gas in the short-term but in the mid-term we will work on strengthening the south-north transport capacity to make flows available for the surrounding countries that we might collect from Azerbaijan or Algeria or even in the mid/long-term from Libya.”
  • SNAM is also planning to deploy €10nbn of investments between 2022-26, he added.
