January Trade Data Scheduled At 1200GMT, Pemex Q4 Earnings Also Due

  • Pemex is expected to release its fourth-quarter earnings report during market trading hours. On the data front, January trade will be released at 1200GMT(0700ET), with analysts expecting a $2.39bn deficit last month, vs. a $4.24bn surplus in December. Weekly international reserves data will also cross at 1500GMT. Meanwhile, Deputy Finance Minister Yorio will attend the publication launch event for the OECD Economic Survey of Mexico at 1630GMT.

  • In other news, Foreign Minister Barcena will travel to the US and Canada this week to meet with officials on matters of economic cooperation and immigration. Mexico is looking for cooperation from the US on giving legal status to Mexicans who have been working in the US for at least five years.
  • Separately, Amazon has said that it plans to invest over $5bn in Mexico over the next 15 years. It said that it will launch an AWS infrastructure region in Mexico by early 2025.
