Japan Oct Exports +9.4% Y/Y; 8th Monthly Rise

  • Japan's exports rose 9.4% y/y in October, slowing from the 13.0% y/y growth marked in September, marking the 8th straight monthly rise.
  • Imports reported a seventh straight rise by 26.7% y/y in October, decelerating from the 38.6% y/y increase last month.
  • Trade balance in October was a deficit of Y67.4 billion, narrowing from the previous Y622.8 billion deficit.
  • Exports to the European Union and China rose 12.1% y/y and 19.5% y/y respectively, and to the United States increased 0.4% y/y.
  • Imports from the European Union increased 18.8% y/y, and from the United States and China increased by 18.5% y/y and 11.4% y/y respectively.
