JAPAN: Japan's retail sales posted solid gains both on year and month in April,
indicating consumption may rebound in the second quarter after the severe winter
weather caused a slump in the first three months of the year, preliminary retail
sales released Wednesday by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)
showed.
