Jet and Naphtha Deliveries to Buoy Clean Tanker Market in 2024: Platts

FREIGHT

Strong projected demand for jet fuel in 2024 is set to support clean tanker markets globally, according to Platts.

  • SPGCI’s Nov. 28 Global Oil Demand Monthly Outlook, jet fuel will see demand growth of around 1 million b/d in 2023.
  • Boosting clean shipping demand further are firm deliveries of naphtha for petchem cracking.
  • Falling refining capacity in Europe and recent additions in the Middle East have increased distances between production and demand centres. This will be supportive for the clean tanker sector, Platts said.
  • Platts assessed the lumpsum to transport a 60k mt clean products cargo on the Mediterranean-Japan route at $3.4m Dec. 13, compared to $2.1m July 24.
