JGBS
JGBS: JGB futures stuck to a narrow range in overnight trade, with liquidity
sapped as a result of the U.S. holiday, finishing the session at unchanged
levels.
- Increased worry surrounding the Coronavirus continues to reverberate
domestically as cases aboard the Diamond Princess grow, triggering further
international evacuations for passengers aboard the vessel. Elsewhere, entry
into the Tokyo Marathon has been restricted to elite athletes only, the
Emperor's birthday celebrations have been cancelled and economists remain wary
re: threat of a recession in the wake of yesterday's GDP data and the impact of
the Coronavirus on the economy.
- Re: Coronavirus, there has also been some focus on a taxi driver party that
was held in mid-January, which may have promoted some of the spread of the virus
(granted domestic cases are much lower than seen in China, particularly when
numbers aboard the Diamond Princess are excluded).
- 5-Year supply headlines the local docket today.
