US TSYS/RESEARCH: JPM economists had forecasted Friday's 8:30 am ET US headline
July CPI would fall 0.04%, which their bond analysts said "would imply negative
carry on long TIPS and long breakeven positions in September."
- The analysts noted on Thursday, US "economic data disappointed, with headline
and core PPI each declining 0.1% in July. The medical care inputs were firmer
than the recent trend, while other components look softer, and though this
report has direct implications for PCE, our economists leave their forecast for
tomorrow's CPI print unchanged."
