US DATA REACT: JPM economists noted the US producer price index "moved up 0.4%
in November, a touch above consensus expectations (+0.3%). The increase in the
headline PPI was driven by a 4.6% increase in energy prices as gasoline prices
jumped 15.8%. Food prices meanwhile increased 0.3%, and the year-ago rate
accelerated to 3.5% from 2.6%."
- They add "the core PPI moved up 0.3%, above expectations of a 0.2% increase.
The year-ago rate was unchanged at 2.4%. The increase was fairly broad-based as
both core goods and core services price inflation firmed. Core goods prices
increased 0.3% for a third consecutive month, and are up 3.2%, in the three
months through November."
