- July CPI is expected to rise by 0.3% based on both the Bloomberg consensus and
an MNI survey of analysts. This follows a 0.1% increase in the previous month.
- Core CPI is expected to rise by 0.2% by both surveys after a 0.3% gain in the
previous month.
- A sharp gain in gasoline prices is expected to be a key factor in the overall
gain.
- Core prices are expected to be lifted by the housing sector and the effect of
tariffs, but apparel prices are expected to pull back after a June gain and
there is a tendency to overestimate CPI in July, based on MNI data.
