July National CPI Data Scheduled

ARGENTINA
  • ARGENTINA TO HALT BEEF EXPORTS FOR 15 DAYS, INFOBAE SAYS (BBG)
  • The above headline on halting beef exports for 15 days is in order to tame local prices according to Infobae. This comes ahead of July CPI data due later today where the annual level of inflation is expected to come in at 115.00%, but will not be reflective of the latest developments since Sunday’s primary results where outsider Javier Milei came out ahead.
  • "If this 20% depreciation of the peso sticks, we are going to see a lot of inflation in the coming days," said Felipe Camargo, an economist who covers Latin America at Oxford Economics, a consulting firm.
  • The Argentina’s parallel peso is reported to have extended losses after the government decided Monday on a 18% currency devaluation. The street exchange rate, called “blue dollar”, weakened 4.2% to 715 pesos per dollar earlier today and the FX spread rose to 104%, from 95%, according to website Dolarhoy.com.
