June Belgium-France JAO CBC Auction Price Widens

The latest cross-border capacity (CBC) auctions for delivery in June on the Joint Allocation Office (JAO) on the Belgium-France border widened compared to the previous month, data from JAO show.

  • All 525MW of offered capacity in the Belgium-French direction was allocated at €1.38/MWh, up from €1.11/MWh for 200MW for May delivery.
  • In the other direction, 240MW of offered capacity was allocated at €18.25/MWh, up from 273MW at €15.11/MWh for May.
  • This placed the Belgium-German spread at €-16.87/MWh compared to a €-14/MWh in May.•France has been a net export position to Belgium so far in May at an average of around 2.36GW, up from 1.43MW in April and a yearly high.
  • French-Belgium June spread closed at €18.23/MWh discount on 22 May, up from €-18.15/MWh from the previous day.
