Kansas Manufacturing Activity Slips In April But Credit Still Available

  • After months of relative resilience compared to other regional Fed surveys, the KC Fed manufacturing activity index was weaker than expected in April, falling from 0 in the prior two months to -10 (cons -2).
  • It's the lowest this cycle and barring Mar-May’20 is the lowest since Feb’16.
  • Weakness on the month was led by production, sliding from +3 to -21, although the series can be volatile and sees a broadly similar trend to overall activity being the lowest since Jun’15.
