Kashkari Says Fed Shouldn't "Overdo It" On Tightening

Listening to Minn Fed Pres Kashkari (dove, non-2022 voter, 2023 voter), certainly doesn't sound like he has changed his view that much since just after the January FOMC (when he saw 3 25bp hikes in 2022) - says in a Q&A his colleagues shouldn't "overdo it" and raise rates "really aggressively" as that would put the economy at risk of recession.

  • He definitely doesn't sound like he's going for a 50bp hike in March in light of the January inflation and jobs data, but that shouldn't be a surprise at all given his historically dovish credentials.
